Introduction

Digital Satellite Television commonly known as DStv is a direct broadcast satellite service owned by multichoice and based in South Africa. In Kenya, the company enjoys a wide market because of its reliability and the wide range of channels it offers to its customers. There are five DStv packages available for every Kenyan customer and that is; DSTV Compact, DSTV Compact Plus, DSTV Access, DSTV Premium and DStv family.

DStv family Package

DStv Access is the lowest package available for Kenyan customers. DStv Access costs KSH. 1,050 per month and have several channels ranging from sports, movies, kids channels, local channels and entertainment channels.

Sport channels available in access DStv package

DStv broadcasts selected English Premier League, Serie A and La Liga Matches.

Supersport football (channel 225 and  supersport 4 (channel 224) broadcasts selected EFL, Laliga and Serie A matches. Supersport Blitz (channel 220) provides all the sports news round the clock.

Local channels available in access DStv package

All the local channels are available in DStv access. Here you can get all the local news and local entertainment.

Channels like KBC, NTV, KTN, Citizen, KTN News, Ramogi TV, Inooro TV, K24 and other local channels are available in DStv access package

In addition to that, local channels in other east African countries like Tanzania and Uganda are also available. Channels like Wasafi TV and Azam TV of Tanzania and UTV and NTV of Uganda are also available in this package.

Fast forward, multichoice’s local channels like Maisha Magic East, Maisha Magic Bongo, Pearl Magic, Maisha Magic Poa are also available.

Entertainment channels available in DStv access

DStv access comes with lots of entertainment channels like all the Trace music channels, MTV and other music channels.

Apart from music, DStv access also have soap channels like Televista and Telemundo, Bollywood channels like Africa Magic and the rest.

Kids Channels available in DStv access

DStv access has all the three main kids Channels i.e. Jim Jam (channel dedicated for children under the age of 5), Disney Junior (channel dedicated for children ranging from 6 years to 12 years) and Nicolodeon (channel dedicated for children ranging from 13 years to 17 years).

DStv family package

Family DStv package is the second lowest package available for Kenyan customers. DStv family is available for every Kenyan customer at KSH. 1500 only.

Sport channels available in family DStv package

DStv family has all the Laliga actions and Serie A actions packed in various supersport channels available in the package.

Apart from that, the package also has all UEFA Europa league actions and selected EPL, EFL, Carabao and FA cup fixtures.

Family DStv package also has supersport Blitz which is dedicated for sports news from every corner of the world.

Kids Channels available in DStv family

DStv family has very many channels dedicated for Kids. The three main channels JimJam, Nicolodeon and Disney Junior are all available in this package. Apart from the three, there are other channels dedicated for Kids available in this package.

Entertainment channels available in family DStv package

There are several entertainment channels available in DStv family package ranging from music channels like Trace, MTV to movie channels like M-net movie zone and others.

News channels available in DStv family package

DStv family package has all the local channels and several international news channels. In these channels, you can get the local a d international news in real time.

DStv compact package

DStv compact package is the third package available for Kenyan customers. This package costs KSH. 2,800 per month.

Sports channels available in compact DStv package

Compact DStv package is the most reliable package for football lovers as it contains all  the premier league, Laliga and Serie A matches. It also has all FA and Carabao cup matches.

DStv compact package also has selected UEFA champions league matches and all Europa league actions.

Apart from football, DStv compact package also has a channel dedicated for WWE and other sports.

Kids Channels available in DStv compact

DStv compact package brings with it all the kids Channels available in multichoice. Cartoon Network, Nicolodeon and Jim Jam are just examples of the channels dedicated to children in this package.

News channels available in compact DStv package

DStv compact has both the local and international news channels. BBC, CNN and Aljazera are some of the international news channels available on this package. On the other hand, all the local channels in Kenya are available in this package.

DStv compact plus package

DStv compact plus package is an improved version of the compact package. This package goes for KSH.5,100 per month and has the following channels;

DStv compact plus package has all the EPL, Laliga, Serie A, Europa and UEFA champions league matches. In short, all the football actions are available under this package.

Apart from the football actions, wrestling, UFC and other sports channels are also available under this package. Two ESPN channels are also available in this package and the subscriber can watch American sports like NBA live at the comfort of your phone/screen.

Kids Channels available in DStv compact plus package

All kids Channels are available in DStv compact plus package. The children will enjoy best cartoons and all the other children channels.

Compact plus package has very many entertainment channels.

The channels range from music channels, movie channels, soap and local entertainment channels.

DStv premium package

DStv premium package is the top most package available for Kenyan customers. DStv premium costs KSH. 8,400 and every customer prescribed to it gets free showmax subscription. With the showmax subscription, you can watch latest movies, series and sports right on your mobile phone.

DStv premium package has all the 26 supersport channels. This means that all the sports actions ranging from football, rugby, UFC, golf, tennis, athletics, wrestling and other sporting activities are well sorted for under this package.
